Flyers finding a way to play hard thanks to goaltending

The Flyers find a way to lose another game and can’t win 2 games in a row since early November. Although, the Flyers are playing hard and stay in most of the games this season.

An interesting statistic this season is the fact that since December 03, all games were decided by one goal (if we don’t count the empty nets). That means that despite the talent problem, the team is playing hard and is finding a way to compete every night. The way that the Flyers are staying in the games is mainly because of Carter Hart. He is playing a lot this season and finds a way to make a lot of saves every night. Before today’s game, he is one of the leaders in saves this season.

It’s true to say that the number of saves that Carter Hart makes can be explained by the lack of talent this team has. They can’t give him a break.

Although, in the last few games, the young players are putting up points. Morgan Frost and Owen Tippet are playing well in the last few games. They are finding ways to step up and that’s a good sign for the future. Noah Cates is also engaged and per Torts, he is making a difference.

The Flyers will have one last shot tomorrow before the break. They will face a strong Carolina Hurricanes team. It will be another big challenge for the Flyers.

Samuel Ersson may play his first NHL game tomorrow. We will have to see what Tort’s decision will be, but Carter Hart didn’t play a back-to-back game this season. It may be an option to play Hart again tomorrow but with Ersson being healthy and being able to have an opportunity in the NHL, I don’t see why Torts will go with Hart.
