The Philadelphia Union took on DC United Friday night at Subaru Park in a wild, thrilling game.
Alejandro Bedoya opened the scoring off a great through ball by Jose Martinez in the 9th minute. In the 22nd minute, Julian Carranza had an astonishing bicycle kick goal that made Subaru Park erupt! Just three minutes later, Carranza tallied another off a great cross by Leon Flach. The Union continued to step on the gas and Alejandro Bedoya got himself a brace in the 36th minute with a flick-on from a Kai Wagner free-kick. The Union ended the half with one last goal by Mikael Uhre in stoppage time. The Union went into the break with a mind-blowing five-goal lead.
DC United was finally able to adjust to the game in the second half and started creating some chances and knocking on the door. However, Andre Blake really wanted his clean sheet and made some great saves. In the 59th minute, Mikael Uhre completed his brace making him the third Union player with a brace. In the 70th minute, Julian Carranza was denied from the penalty spot and denied his hat-trick, but just two minutes later he was able to get his hat-trick and score the last goal of the night.
The Union played very well Friday night and it really looked like they really wanted to win for the first time this season. When the Union move the ball they are a dangerous team and as you can see beat teams 7-0. Hopefully, this play continues for the rest of the season and we can win a trophy.
