The Phillies will begin a three-game series versus the 43-35 St. Louis Cardinals on the 4th of July weekend, starting Friday night. This will be the Phillies’ first meeting with St. Louis all season. It’ll be interesting to see if the Phillies can produce as much as they did in their series finale against the Atlanta Braves.

Phillies must find a win in the first game of the series

The Cardinals will go with Miles Mikolas on the bump on Friday night. Mikolas is 5-5 on the season in starts and will be crucial for the Phillies to get off to a fast start against him. Also, the Phillies must limit defensive errors against this team since the Cardinals have a collective .321 on-base percentage. The Cardinals are coming off a series win versus the Miami Marlins.

Phillies’ offense needs to be on point

Seeing the performance of Darick Hall will be a huge boost alongside Rhys Hoskins and Kyle Schwarber in this series. It’ll be interesting to see if this Phillies team can win the series against a pretty solid St. Louis Cardinals team. Phillies Didi Gregorius needs to be on point in the batter’s box and limit strikeouts.

Pitching matchups

Game 1: Miles Mikolas (5-5, 2.57 ERA) vs. Bailey Falter (0-2, 4.50 ERA)

Game 2: Matthew Liberatore ( 2-1. 4.00 ERA) vs. Kyle Gibson (4-3, 4.48)
