Carson Wentz banner is coming down at Lincoln Financial Field

It’s been 151 days since the Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts.

There’s been plenty of time to process the former franchise quarterback’s leave. The majority — if not the entirety — of Eagles fans have moved on by now.

But today serves as another reminder of how the team is moving on from the Wentz era. While certainty the era was successful in some regards (like winning a Super Bowl), wasn’t quite as successful as they hoped it would be.

The Wentz banner hung on the east side of Lincoln Financial Field (facing I-95 South and closer to Pattison Avenue) is being removed.

It’s really too bad Wentz couldn’t be more like the MVP caliber player we saw in 2017 beyond that season. Maybe he’ll rebound with Frank Reich, but I have my doubts as most people should.

In any case, he’s gone. And how he performs doesn’t directly impact the Eagles beyond this season, in which Philly owns Indy’s 2022 second-round pick that might turn into a first.

As for what’s set to replace the Wentz banner? Well we still don’t know. There have been some unconfirmed rumors that Jason Kelce might be taking his place. Personally, I would like to see this:
