Earlier this year, Nike announced that seven teams, the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, and San Francisco Giants will get new jerseys that would help show the bond between the team and the city.

So far the Red Sox and Marlins have debuted their new uniforms while the rest are scheduled to debut in June-August.

All MLB teams should’ve been included in this if they’re going to be as cool as these Marlins jerseys. So what would the Phillies jersey look like if they were to get one next year?

The picture above would be an awesome logo to have on a maroon jersey. I can picture that logo on one side and the number on the other, just like the powder blue jersey. The hat is where things could get creative. What if the hat was powder blue on the top with a maroon brim and button. Would that not look amazing? They could also just wear the regular powder blue pants and they’d have the craziest jersey in baseball!

Reading Fightin Phils on Twitter: "For those curious, here are a few up close shots of the @Phillies Phillie Phanatic Jersey we'll be wearing July 2nd! You can pre-order a jersey here:

But if the Phillies really want to sell the most jerseys, they’ll do something with the Phanatic. How they haven’t had him as part of their uniform in some way yet is an absolute tragedy. Replace the Liberty Bell batting practice hats with a red hat with a green brim featuring the Phanatic on it. Every Lids store across the country would sell out of those hats instantly.

I understand the ongoing lawsuit between the Phillies and Harrison/Erickson most likely has put a wrench in this idea (seriously is there any updates on that whole situation), but the Phillies need to do it sooner or later.

Overall, whatever City Connect jersey the Phillies may end up getting in the next year or two is going to be cool, let’s just hope it doesn’t look like the terrible Red Sox UCLA jersey does.
