And they say the Eagles don’t care about linebackers.
According to ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun to a three-year, $51 million contract, with $34 million guaranteed. With the new contract, Baun has become the fourth-highest-paid linebacker in football.

Baun had a career resurgence in his first year in Philadelphia after signing a one-year, $1.25 million deal last offseason. He was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft but struggled during his first four years in the Big Easy. His role with the Saints constantly changed from an edge-rusher to a coverage linebacker, causing New Orleans to not extend Baun when his rookie contract expired.
He joined the Eagles, who have been desperate for years for a star linebacker, and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio helped mold Baun into not only the NFL player he was meant to be but one of the best outside linebackers in all of football.
In 2024, Baun finished with 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, one interception, and five forced fumbles. He was incredible throughout the season, coming up with big play after big play and being the linebacker that the Eagles had been looking for for years. His amazing season helped him earn his first Pro Bowl selection, a first-team All-Pro selection, and finishing fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
On top of his outstanding regular season, Baun continued to ball out in the postseason for the Eagles, as he finished with 33 tackles and two tackles for loss. Baun also recovered a fumble or grabbed an interception in each of the Eagles’ four postseason games, including a huge interception in Super Bowl LIX that helped Philadelphia capture their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
Baun will now remain a prominent part of this Eagles team, which will hope to continue to compete for multiple Super Bowls moving forward.
