Post-Giroux era (at least for now)

It has been couple games since Claude Giroux was traded to the Florida Panthers to have a chance at the Stanley Cup. Since the trade the Flyers are 2-4. The good part is that the coaching staff giving some important roles to some of the younger players and expect them to show some leadership.

What a story for the new arrival of the Flyers

We may have seen something special last Thursday against the Blues. Hayden Hodgson got signed to a one-year NHL contract for the reminder of the season. Hodgson scored his first NHL goal in his first game and finished the night with two points. What a story for a player that had a serious injury in 2019: he was cut by a skate on his leg. It almost ended his young career, but he battled through that difficult moment to get an opportunity in the big leagues and show what he can do during his first game.

After the Hodgson signing, it’s time for Noah Cates, the fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft to get an opportunity in the NHL that will start from this year as he signed a two-year contract that will begin this season. If everything goes as plan, we will be able to see him for the final games of the Philadelphia Flyers 2022 season.

Noah Cates played with the University of Minnesota-Duluth since the 2018-2019 season in the NCHL. He collected 99 points (39 goals) in 139 games.

Can those players be part of the “retool” that Fletcher is trying to do to get a fresh start next season. I guess we will have to see what those young players can do but also what player on the Flyers can step up and prove himself moving to next season.
