This article is solely about Joel Embiid. After last night it should be clear that Joel Embiid is the MVP. Sure, Jokic recorded a 49 point triple double but in 41 minutes. Embiid’s projected stats with 41 minutes last night would’ve been 76 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocks. He was just on another level.

Embiid’s dominance started right off the bat in the 1st quarter. Scoring 20 of 25 total first quarter points for the Sixers, he had the team on his back. After watching the first quarter you really had to feel bad for him, he was playing outstanding basketball and had no help. This continued on into the 2nd quarter as the Sixers would end the quarter trailing by 10 points. This was largely due to the fact that Mo Bamba couldn’t miss a 3 and scored 28 first half points.

In the 3rd quarter, Emiid just turned into a god. He scored 23 points making it the second 20 point quarter of the game as well as his 6th of his career. 3 of those points came as the shotclock was winding down as he hit a step back three over Robin Lopez. This was just the cherry on top to what was already a historical performance from Embiid. Joel Embiid joined Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson as the only Sixers to record multiple 50 point performances.

After scoring 47 through 3, it looked like Embiid was out for good. Just to add one more thing, Joel Embiid had half of the team’s points through 3 quarters. Getting back to the 4th quarter, Joel Embiid made his return with about 7 or so minutes left. Embiid was fouled on both trips down the floor and went 3/4 from the charity stripe. Unfortunately he missed the free throw that would’ve given him a new career high. He did although tie his career high and it was  later said that all he wanted was 50.

Everyone who watched that game was blessed to see the Joel Embiid show. There isn’t a single team that can guard him and he is clearly top 2 in the MVP race.
