Hurts asks for ‘follow-up action’ after postgame incident

It’s been two days since the Eagles’ big win over the Washington Football Team, but Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has handed them their second L in as many days.
Hurts was involved in a postgame incident after Sunday’s win. When walking off the field and into the tunnel, a railing at FedEx Field collapsed, barely missing him. Fans who were leaning over the railing dropped from the stands and landed inches away from the Eagles quarterback. Hurts quickly helped up the Eagles fans in front of him, making a wholesome moment for all and showing just how much of a class act he really is.
Hurts was under stably not happy with the situation. According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post, Hurts sent a letter to Washington asking for follow-up action so that such an event doesn’t happen again.
On Sunday, Washington released a statement saying those fans who fell onto the field were offered on-site medical evaluations.
Several of the fans that participated in the fall publicly disproved that statement to ESPN.
Hurts spoke to the media Tuesday about why he wrote the letter.
“I just wanted to see what could be done to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Hurts said. “That’s all I really care about. That’s a very tragic incident and it could have been much worse, much, much worse. But I just don’t want it to happen again.”
This is really selfless and caring of Hurts. Not many players in this league would’ve stuck around to make sure the fans were safe. There were security guards around and that’s their job. It would’ve been perfectly understandable for Hurts to carry on walking. But he didn’t. He stayed and helped. Although according to the fans who fell, the security guards didn’t do much of anything.
