Saturday night… happened. The Philadelphia Phillies will try and leave that sad night behind and win the series over the Atlanta Braves Sunday night.

Here’s what to watch:

Nola day

Phillies starter Aaron Nola threw 114 pitches in six innings Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Nola is 11-6 with a 3.06 ERA in 21 career starts against the Braves. Although at Truist Park, the home of the Braves, he’s 2-4 with a 3.97 ERA in eight starts.

Tired bullpens

After Saturday night’s 12 inning loss, both bullpens should be pretty tired.

The Phillies used the following pitchers from the bullpen Saturday night: Sam Coonrod (1.1 IP), Jose Alvarado (1.1 IP), Hector Neris (1.0 IP), Brandon Kintzler (1 IP), Connor Brogdon (1.0 IP), Enyel De Los Santos (0.0 IP), and finally Matt Moore (0.0 IP).

The Braves used the following pitchers from the bullpen Saturday night: Grant Dayton (1.0 IP), Luke Jackson (1.0 IP), Tyler Matzek (1.0 IP), Will Smith (1.0 IP), A.J. Minter (1.0 IP), and finally Jacob Webb (1.0 IP)

The Phillies and Braves cleared out shop Saturday night. The most a pitcher pitched was 1.1 IP, so it definitely wasn’t an extended amount of time on the bump for a singular pitcher. It’ll be interesting how the teams use the bullpen. Phillies have to hope that Nola pitches a while Sunday night.

Another note from Saturday night’s game is that Ronald Acuña Jr. left the game in extreme pain after being hit on the left pinky by a 98 mph fastball from Sam Coonrod. X-rays were negative and he is day-to-day. His status for Sunday night is up in the air.
