The Philadelphia Phillies are set to welcome about 8,800 fans to Citizens Bank Park when they open the 2021 regular season against the Atlanta Braves on April 1. To keep all fans and staff safe, the team released new safety protocols for the 2021 season.

Face coverings are required for all fans ages two and older. Masks must cover the nose and mouth at all times, except while actively eating or drinking in their own seating pod.

Fans will not be allowed to bring bags or backpacks into the stadium this season. According to the Phillies, “Only single compartment purses, medical bags, and diaper bags will be permitted. Approved bags can be no larger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″ and will be subject to inspection upon entry in accordance with Major League Baseball security regulations.” The team has installed BinBox lockers on Citizens Bank Way for fans who bring a bag or item that is not permitted inside. Lockers come with a $10 rental fee.

Hundreds of contactless hand sanitizing stations will be scattered across the concourse.

Fans are expected to practice social distancing by remaining at least six feet apart from those outside of their seating pod both inside and outside the ballpark. Fans are encouraged to follow visual markers as well as verbal cues from the game day staff.

Contactless payment methods across all points of sale will be in use.

Paper tickets will be a thing of the past as all tickets will be mobile and can be accessed through the MLB Ballpark App. Parking passes can be accessed through the app as well.

Tailgating will not be permitted at the moment.

All fans will be assigned an entry gate based on their seating location. So make sure that where you park is closest to your assigned gate. For example, you have seats in section 137 for a home game against the Atlanta Braves. Directly below your QR code and seating assignment, the ticket on the MLB Ballpark App reads “Enter at Third Base Gate.”

Concession stands will be open with all food being pre-packaged.

When exiting Citizens Bank Park, all gates, including the center field, right field, and club gates will be open to fans to exit. You do not have to exit at the specific gate you came into, but fans are encouraged to take the most efficient route possible to exit the park for the safety of others.

Fans are not permitted within 12 feet of the dugout and bullpens. Players are prohibited from having direct contact with fans and are “discouraged from signing autographs.”

And of course, fans should not attend if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or are not feeling well that day.
